“I’m bored” is one of the most dreaded phrases a parent can hear on vacation. When you take your getaway in Murphy, North Carolina, however, your kids will always have something to do! To help you keep your little ones occupied, we have put together some great advice for beating back boredom at our Murphy NC vacation rentals.

1. Book a Cabin with a Game Room

One of the best ways to keep your kids nice and busy is to choose a cabin with a game room. Offering a variety of activities, such as billiards, darts, ping pong, and more, our game rooms can provide hours of entertainment for your children.

Of course, the game room isn’t just for the kids. For some family fun, get everyone together in the game room for a friendly tournament. To raise the stakes, make the losing team do the dishes after dinner!

2. Get OutdoorsA family looking at a map beside a mountain river.

Kids love to be outdoors, and Murphy is full of opportunities for getting some fresh air. Head to Konehete Park and let your children loose to enjoy the soccer field, baseball diamond, tennis courts, and children’s play zone. Be sure to pack some sandwiches so you can have a picnic lunch when the kids are ready for a break.

Konehete Park is also the starting point for the Murphy River Walk, a scenic three mile trail with views of the Hiwassee River, hardwood forests, and meadowlands. If your kids like to go fishing, the River Walk has a handful of piers that are perfect for casting your line.

Fields of the Wood is another great place for some fun in the great outdoors. This beautiful park is home to the World’s Largest Ten Commandments Display and the All Nation Cross, made up of flags from around the world. For lunch, stop by the cafe in the gift shop for some tasty sandwiches.

3. Visit WagonMaster Ranch

WagonMaster Ranch is one of the most popular family attractions close to our Murphy NC vacation rentals. This 73 acre park offers mini golf, wagon rides, paintball arcades, nature trails, playgrounds, bounce houses, and more. Kids will absolutely love the Salty Dog Gem Mine, where they can pan for gold and search for rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and other stones. WagonMaster Ranch closes for the winter and typically reopens around mid March.
