October 26, 2015

This year, skip the hassle of hosting Thanksgiving at home and bring your whole family to the mountains of North Carolina! When you celebrate the holiday at our vacation rentals in Murphy NC, you’ll enjoy a relaxing getaway in the midst of some of the nation’s most breathtaking scenery. To help you get started, Mountain Country Cabin Rentals has put together five steps for planning your Thanksgiving vacation with us:

1. Agree on the Perfect Date

While we can’t control the day that Thanksgiving actually arrives, it’s perfectly okay to choose a different date for your celebration. Take time to talk to everyone that you want to invite to determine when the most people can get away for a few days. You can plan to have your big meal on whatever day that most everyone can attend, and others can have the option of dropping in to visit at some point during your stay.

2. Choose Your Cabin

Once you figure out how many people will actually be staying with you over the holiday, you can choose an appropriate cabin. Our largest cabin, The Millhouse Lodge at McGuires, has 6 bedrooms and can sleep up to 30 people in perfect comfort. If you need even more room, then we can put you in two cabins that are near one another. Those planning smaller family gatherings can be assured that we also have the perfect cabin for your needs.

3. Make Your Meal PlansA table filled with various Thanksgiving foods.

If you’re worried about preparing your traditional Thanksgiving meal away from home, then you’ll be glad to know that all of our vacation rentals in Murphy NC come with fully furnished kitchens. When you choose one of our large cabins, you’ll have plenty of room to share the kitchen with other cooks, and you can expect a full-size refrigerator and stove, a dishwasher for easy cleanup, and a big dining room table for everyone to share the holiday meal together. If you’d prefer not to cook, then you’ll find some excellent restaurants in Murphy that offer wonderful food. Doyle’s Cedar Hill Restaurant and Murphy’s Chophouse are two restaurants that usually offer Thanksgiving meals.

4. Plan Some Fun at Your Cabin

When you stay with us for Thanksgiving, you won’t have to worry about the kids being bored at your cabin. Many of our properties come with yards where you can run races, play a game of tag, or enjoy some hide-and-go-seek. Guests will also find plenty of in-cabin entertainment, such as hot tubs, full-size pool tables, ping-pong tables, dartboards, and flat-screen televisions for viewing some Thanksgiving football. At some of our cabins, you can even step right outside to enjoy some excellent fishing in the river!
